At the entrance to the garden stands a true-to-scale cast-iron replica of Old Abe, famed battlefield mascot to the Eighth Wisconsin Regiment during the Civil War. Kaspar Albrecht, an Austrian architect and close family friend of the Kohler family, sculpted the piece. To this day, the original basswood Old Abe stands guard in the Wisconsin Room at The American Club®.
